P3A – Progressive Story

For the progressive story “ The Carisbrooke Creek War” Pod 3 A wrote one chapter of the story. The whole class wrote their own version of what they wanted to happen and we decided which parts were the best to create the most interesting chapter. The chapter was then emailed to The Advertiser’s publishers to be published in their newspaper. Students from different schools across Adelaide had to read the previous chapters and decide what would happen next.

The first chapter will be published on Saturday July 22nd and the Keithcot Farm chapter will be published on Monday July 24th

Here’s our chapter:

Chapter 3

Year 6/7, Keithcot Farm Primary

‘Last one,’ Ryan said as he tied the final catapult to their fort. They were ready to shoot water balloons at the girls if they crossed to the boys’ side. ‘Now we have weapons. Now it’s a real fort.’

Otis liked water balloons, but he didn’t want to shoot anyone. He would rather live in peace with the girls and catch tadpoles instead.

He didn’t know they would find tadpoles soon…but not in the creek.

The girls waded through the mud and rubbish to deliver their fake peace offering.

‘This’ll get the boys good.’ Claire gave Miranda a devilish smile.

Miranda didn’t smile back. She was worried—her idea didn’t seem like a harmless prank anymore. As they got closer, she sensed something was terribly wrong.

Ryan jumped up. ‘Get them!’ he yelled.

He and Otis fired. Some of the water balloons missed their mark and hit the tray of cupcakes. Tadpoles and cake exploded everywhere.

Ryan was shocked. He realised the girls were trying to trick them into eating the tadpoles hidden in the cupcakes. ‘Prepare to die!’

Otis and Ryan grabbed more water balloons and chased the girls.

Miranda and Claire ran for cover. They opened a hatch in the side of their palace, reached for their glitter guns, aimed and fired—in seconds, the boys were covered from head to toe in pink glitter.

Realising he was out-gunned and out-glittered, Ryan ran back to the fort with Otis close behind. It would take hours to wash the glitter off.

More plotting was needed. This meant war.
